Quake 4 Mod - Silence from Q4Max and XBM

There is still no indication of when we can expect a 1.3 patch compatible release from Q4Max or XBM. From everything I am hearing both mod teams are hard at work adding extra features and options, but there is very little detail available. The only thing I am fairly sure of is Q4Max is supposedly working on including the xgo sound pack with 76 release.

For those of you that aren't familiar with what this is, xgo has taken the time to sit down and tweak the shader values in Q4 and improve the occlusion of the sound. Occlusion has to do with hearing sounds through walls, around corners etc, (from my admittedly limited understanding). If someone wants to comment explaining in detail that would be great. In any case, the pack greatly improves perception of distance and direction using sounds.

This has been a major pitfall of Q4 from the beginning and its great to see someone doing so much work on something thats so needed. Kudos to the mod teams for recognizing xgo's good work and including his files in their releases.

In any case, arQon's response to repeated requests for release dates in Q4Max's forums was:

If you can wait 4 months for id to release a patch, I'm sure you can wait 4 days for us to fix the bugs in it.

Nice little quote there from arQon. I look forward to the next version. On a side note, I believe that if Q4 was given Q3 CPMA's movement, the game would be a huge hit with the community.

dunno about that....a lot of people are scared of cpma. You might want to check out the Q4W physics for GTR. Also GTX physics are nice also.

If you look in your GTR folder there is a docs directory with a gamemodes.txt file. That lists all the available modes with a brief description. The console command would be 'callvote gamemode Q4W' .
