Quake 4 News - 1.3 Patch To Be Released Today!
Quake 4 NewsSyncError (id's community liason) has announced that the 1.3 patch will be released at some point today. More news coming on this site as it comes available! Stay Tuned........
















Smell that? You smell that? That's napalm, son. Nothing in the world smells like that. I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory.


The changelog has been released to the public. Some of the highlights are:


  • 8 New multiplayer maps (5 DM, 2 Tourney and 1 CTF)
  • Added a single ambient light option. Use r_forceAmbient with a value ranging from 0 to 1.
  • Multiplayer weapon damage and movement values have been adjusted.
  • The player will now respawn based on his/her last combatant's location.
  • Shotgun hit sounds will no longer drop.
  • The game no longer has to be relaunched to access more than 4 netdemos.
  • The wrong icon will no longer appear for certain clients after a team shuffle.
  • Spawn auto-complete in the RCON window will no longer crash.
  • Voting for Team DM and certain maps will no longer load the wrong map.
  • The Apply Changes button in the Options menu has been removed.
  • A crash will no longer occur in Tourney if a finalist disconnects.
  • A player's name will no longer change to that of the player in the demo if a NetDemo is played.
  • Napalm Gun
  • Time Limit Hit will no longer be displayed in the wrong circumstances.

There are 2 extremely important changes in that list. "Multiplayer weapon damage and movement values have been adjusted."

// projectile speed: 1400 (q4base: 1200)
// Rocketlauncher:
// projectile speed: 935 (q4base: 900)
// projectile size: 5 (q4base: 7)
// knockback: 110 (q4base: 100)
// projectile speed: 935 (q4base: 900)

Thats an impressive list of changes that will inspire much debate over the next few days. It should be entertaining to watch the flame wars regardless of anything else.


"The player will now respawn based on his/her last combatant's location". If I am not mistake thats the same paradigm that Q3 uses.
