| TRW deals fP a Crushing Defeat to Win Season 1 CTF | |
 Winning in 3 straight maps by solid margins, TRW beat Flag Pirates last night to win the first season of True Carnage CTF. TRW clearly brought their "A" game in what many felt was an opportunity for them to make a statement. The statement was, simply put, they are the best American Quake 4 ctf team and they have no intention of losing that title quietly.
With the addition of mickey of Q3 renown to the fP roster for this season, Flag Pirates made a serious push into the second spot this season. They challenged trw in a number of practice games leading up to this match. As noted in other postings, TRW has a deep bench and experienced squad and that paid off tonight as cdogg and wn stepped up to help trw go to another level of play.
The first map was CP14 (Campers Crossing), which is one of fp's staple maps. Right from the opening bell, trw established rock solid control of the mid and capped in early minutes with strong pressure from shizem and cdogg fueled by devastating quad runs. That continued throughout as mesh and cxt tried in vain to establish any consistent pressure on trw's d. The map slipped quickly out of reach of fP as trw's contant mid control afforded them access to every single quad and icelore's punishing aim kept fP's offense on it's heels.

fP went into Courtyard Conundrum (W2) knowing that they had to do a better job of controlling powerups. Mickey and cxt battled shizem and cdogg constantly for regen control, stealing a number of them away from trw's offense. Those efforts proved to be not enough to make a difference as trw got their fair share despite fP's determination to make better use of map resources. Shizem got a few regen fueled caps with strong escorts from cdogg and icelore. That made the difference as trw rolled on to win the second map.
w2 (Courtyard Conundrum) final score TRW 11 - fP 2
KA and intensity stepped in to run the offense in front of the strong defense of icelore and wn on Mind the Gap. They battled mesh and mickey constantly for RA control in mid, fighting fiercely in running battles as both teams flowed through the mid on their attack runs. Quad control is crucial on this map, and with icelore's help in mid trw kept a solid lock, using it on crushing attacks. TRW jumped out to a big lead early and mickey's attempt at driving a comeback with some last minute heroics proved to be too little too late.

"All drama aside, we definitely did not want to come into this finals vs FP over-confident," ff told True Carnage after the game. "FP has been giving us some real close game in scrimmages, and looked to have closed the margin."
"Though the score may be lopsided, FP is a talented bunch, " ff went on to say. "The disadvantage only being their ever-changing lineups and difficulty meshing together to achieve the proper chemistry in such a short time. I look for FP to be much more competitive next season and should be in for some close games."
"I'd like to thank everyone that played this season, " wn said after the match. "I think FP played well and had some good offensive pushes, but there were a couple things that hurt them. Fortunately, we had a well-balanced team that was able to consistently play great throughout the season. "
"We really tried hard esp on w2," commented icelore. "especially since you beat us in scrims."
"We were focused and knew what we had to do," icelore went on. "Everyone was calm on vent and we all honestly tried our ass's off."
"I had a fun season, and really look (forward) to next season defending the title, " said icelore. "I just hope there are new teams and players, q4ctf really is fun."
