First, let me get this out of the way: There is no such thing as a rocket jumping script in Q4 to date. id deliberately locked the cvars that are required, which means you are just going to have to learn how to do it properly. =) That is the purpose of this tutorial.
Back in the early days of Quake 3, rocket jumping was an elite skill that ctf flag runners had mastered to the point of science meets art. While there was always debate over who was using scripts and who was not, most of the top flag runners were doing it the right way with very good reason. If you use a script to rocket jump your arc is very predictable and you will most likely get railed. A script style rocket jump is usually vertical in nature and takes away 50 HP give or take and a rail shot takes away 100 HP...you do the math. If you aren't stacked with full armor and regen you aren't going to get far.
If you are going to rocket jump in any situation you always need to be aware of the health its going to cost you and the liklihood you will survive what comes next. You need to understand how to survive the jump using control of your angle and trajectory.
Vertical Rocket Jump
This rocket jump is mostly straight up and you shouldn't try it if your opponent has a clean rail shot at you. Its hard for them to miss.
The basic steps:
aim at your feet
fire the rocket
Jump immediately after
aim/look in the direction you want to go
Always remember Quake has some air control. Its important to maintain your forward key throughout the rocket jump and its very important to look/aim where you are going. If you keep looking at your feet you will rob yourself of momentum.
Sounds simple? It is, but you will need to practice even the most basic jumps to become totally confident of pulling them off in game situations.
If you are unable to see the video that is above this line you will need the divx web player.

Theres another technique I use that seems to do the same job while only costing you about 15 points of health instead of the fifty you mentioned above:
1. tap the jump key
2. fire the rocket at your feet IMMEDIATLEY after the jump
3. look in the direction you want to go and use the air control
With the proper timing, you can get the same amount of height and distance demonstrated in that little video without taking a massive hit to your health

Actually, if you notice, the 50HP is mentioned in the context of using a script as opposed to doing it manually. If you are doing it properly you should never take off that much health.

Really, I never knew there was a way to do it with less health taken other than aiming it no so much at the ground =X
